I am prepared to approve the

proposals contained in the despatch from

the Governor of Hong Kong if the

Federated Malay States Government consents

to the release of these Officers. I

have to request that if the Federated

Malay States Government be willing, it

may be ascertained whether the proposed

transfers would be agreable to Dr.

Jackson and Mr. Dep on the terms

specified in the Governor's despatch,

and if so, that the necessary arrangements

may be made direct with the Governor of

Hong Kong for their transfer to that

Colony.
